  • Changes in flight will cost you $$$ even on reward travel

  • I booked an award ticket online, but accidentally made a mistake for the return date. I then changed the date, which cost me an additional $150. After doing this, I went to make rental car reservation. The problem was that at my arrival time - after midnight, all rental car agencies were closed. I called back Delta to ask them if I could change my flight time, but not the date. They said I could, but it would cost me an additional $150! Mind you, this flight was practically empty, so it wasn't as if I were taking up a valuable space. Actually, the first time I called to change the time, it was going to be approved, but the attendant on the other said that I had to make a decision right away or change that if I reached someone else, they may not be able to waive the extra fee. Well, I could not until I knew I could get a shuttle bus to the airport. So, I called back and ended up speaking with three agents. When I confirmed a shuttle, I called Delta back. Well, this time I was rudely told that there was no way that Delta would waive the second $150 penalty! That's not how to treat a customer, especially one who has been a loyal Delta patriot since 1997.
