  • What do you expect?

  • Hybrid trucks typically cost about $5,000 more than regular trucks and the biggest of the big have only just started to test, not replace, *test* hybrid fleets for their shipping. http://gas2.org/2009/02/06/wal-mart-tests-diesel-hybrid-trucks-alternative-fuels-2/ Fully electric trucks are going to start rolling out later this year in the U.S., but with limited range, and you can bet your bottom dollar the initial releases will be expensive. http://gas2.org/2009/06/22/first-us-electric-truck-the-zerotruck-enters-production/ It's not ridiculous to ask UPS to transition their fleet to hybrid or electric, it's just ridiculous to expect that now. Expect the shift to begin in a year when costs start to decline.
